A modern, mobile-first HomeGauge alternative.
$49.99 a month flat, AI included — and no Windows desktop required.
Credit where it’s due
HomeGauge has been at this since 2001, and it shows in the good ways: deep template control, a true desktop authoring workflow, TREC/Texas report formats, 360° images, US phone support, and the Create Request List™ — a repair-request tool agents genuinely like. At $89/month it also undercuts Spectora’s $109 base plan. If you love writing reports at a desk with two monitors, HomeGauge’s workflow is a real strength.
Why inspectors look for an alternative
The core of HomeGauge is a Windows desktop application. The Report Writer doesn’t run natively on a Mac — HomeGauge’s own support docs point Mac users to Parallels or Boot Camp. In the field, you capture with the HomeGauge Companion app and finish at the computer — and the Companion app is where reviews sting: 2.9★ across 39 ratings on the iOS App Store, with multiple reviewers describing camera bugs. For an app whose job is taking photos all day, that matters.
Two more things worth knowing. First, HomeGauge advertises no AI features as of June 2026 — no AI narratives, no AI summaries. Second, HomeGauge is no longer independent: Spectora acquired it on April 1, 2025 (both now under Radian Capital), and HomeGauge’s own pricing page cross-sells Spectora at $109/month. Inspectors on the InterNACHI forum have wondered aloud how long one owner will maintain two competing code bases.
The pricing math, honestly
- HomeGauge ONE: $89/month after the 30-day trial — $1,068 a year if paid monthly. Annual, additional-inspector, and per-report pricing are not published as of June 2026, per HomeGauge’s pricing page.
- InspectrPlus: $49.99/month — $599.88 a year, flat. Unlimited inspections and reports, AI writing, photo annotation, scheduling, agreements, invoicing and payments, mileage and expense tracking — all included.
That’s about $468 a year less — and the bigger difference is workflow. With InspectrPlus the report is finished before you leave the driveway, on the device you already carry. No desktop session, no sync step, no Windows license.

Switching: your templates, rebuilt in an afternoon
Honest answer: there’s no automated migration from HomeGauge. You’ll rebuild your template in InspectrPlus by hand — section by section, starting from the built-in templates — which most solo inspectors finish in an afternoon. Use the 3-day free trial to take one real inspection through InspectrPlus end to end before you commit to anything.
Frequently asked questions
- Is InspectrPlus cheaper than HomeGauge?
- InspectrPlus is $49.99/month flat — $599.88 a year with everything included, including AI report writing. HomeGauge ONE is $89/month after its 30-day trial as of June 2026 ($1,068 a year if paid monthly); annual, additional-inspector, and per-report pricing are not published as of June 2026. Check HomeGauge’s pricing page for current rates.
- Does HomeGauge have AI report writing?
- Not as of June 2026 — HomeGauge advertises no AI features. InspectrPlus includes AI defect narratives, AI repair estimates, and AI executive summaries in the flat monthly price.
- Do I need a Windows PC to use InspectrPlus?
- No. InspectrPlus runs entirely on iPhone and iPad — capture, annotate, write, and deliver the report on site. HomeGauge’s desktop Report Writer requires Windows; on a Mac, HomeGauge’s own support docs point to Parallels or Boot Camp.
- Who owns HomeGauge now?
- Spectora acquired HomeGauge on April 1, 2025; both companies are under Radian Capital. HomeGauge’s own pricing page now cross-sells Spectora at $109/month. Some inspectors on the InterNACHI forum have voiced concern that one owner is unlikely to maintain two competing code bases long-term.
- Can I bring my HomeGauge templates over?
- There’s no automated importer — switching means rebuilding your template by hand, section by section, starting from the InspectrPlus built-in templates. Most solo inspectors can do it in an afternoon.
- Is there a free trial?
- Yes — InspectrPlus has a 3-day free trial with full access, started from the App Store, and you can cancel anytime in the App Store. To be fair, HomeGauge’s trial is longer at 30 days — there’s no reason not to try both.
